Answering your questions…
What is a VA?
Virtual Assistants provide support to business owners and entrepreneurs. They can perform a wide variety of tasks in administration such as inbox and diary management but also have more specialised skills such as bookkeeping. They typically work remotely and are classified as independent contractor not employees.
How much does it cost to hire a VA?
My rate is from £35 per hour however a range of flexible packages are available designed to provide the best value and support for both your budget and business requirements.
How can a VA make me more productive?
A VA can take tasks off your plate that aren’t necessarily big projects but part of the day-to-day operations, such as sorting out your bookkeeping, answering emails, scheduling meetings, sending out the monthly newsletter, etc. These tasks can be handled by a VA so you can continue with the big picture.
Can a VA manage and share my calendar and email inbox?
Yes. In fact, many VAs specialise in this.
Is hiring a VA a cybersecurity risk?
No. However, it is extremely necessary to make sure all passwords and data are protected when working with your VA. Make sure to not send your login information over email and instead use a password encryption platform such as Zoho Vault or WeTransfer.
Is hiring a VA worth it?
For most small businesses, a VA is absolutely worth the cost and can actually impact revenue growth. VAs have the capacity to shave off hours from your work week. They can take care of things on the back end so you can concentrate on the front end or anything client-facing. You only pay for the hours you need – no national insurance, holiday pay, other employment costs – making it a highly cost effective solution. Let’s lighten your workload!
Is there a minimum amount I need to spend every month?
The minimum is just one hour per month. I recommend you start on an ad hoc basis, if you’ve not worked with a VA before, because I work efficiently so will do less hours than you probably think to get your work done. Typically tasks are turned around within 24 – 48 hours but ad hoc may take up to 72 hours. Retainer packages are also available.
What is the notice period?
As you’re paying in advance there is no notice period. Another reason to have a VA over an employee.
